Palm Beach

The world-renowned Town of Palm Beach is on a 16-mile barrier island and is the easternmost town in the State of Florida. Nicknamed ‘The Island’, Palm Beach’s motto ‘The Best of Everything’ sums up the attitude of the town’s residents. With extraordinary natural beauty, high quality of life and small-town character, Palm Beach real estate is some of the most sought after property in the world. With a year-round population under 11,000, Palm Beach swells to a seasonal population estimated at 30,000. According to early settler accounts, Palm Beach received its name from a shipwreck named the ‘Providencia’. The ship washed ashore in 1878 with a load of cocoanuts. The settlers lost no time claiming the salvage and planting the cocoanuts which were not native to South Florida in an effort to launch South Florida into the cocoanut industry. Millionaire industrialist Henry Flagler opened The Royal Poinciana Hotel in 1894 and The Palm Beach Inn in 1896, the latter renamed The Breakers Hotel in 1901. The town was incorporated on April 17, 1911 and had become one of the country’s premier winter resorts. Today, Palm Beach remains a premier winter destination for many of the world’s rich and famous. Palm Beach remains famous for the acclaimed shopping along Worth Avenue where world-renown fashion and jewelry designers have shops to showcase each season’s designs. This international destination also boasts legendary dining establishments, gorgeous architecture, luxury hotels and a beautiful stretch of beach. Palm Beach has a wide variety of luxury real estate offerings including lavish, waterfront estates, Mizner-designed landmarked compounds, exclusive oceanfront condominiums, in-town townhouses, and properties on the Intracoastal with deep water dockage for boats and yachts. The small-town charm of the elegant island is what continues to make it one of the most desirable spots in the world to own real estate.
