Douglas Elliman Real Estate Sealed More Deals Than Any Other Real Estate Firm in Manhattan

May 21, 2016

This month The Real Deal Magazine announced that the Douglas Elliman Real Estate sealed more deals than any other real estate firm in Manhattan. Douglas Elliman Real Estate hit the No. 1 spot with $6.13 billion in sales over the last year. This number is up 43 percent from the previous year and represents $700 million more than the nearest competitor.

According to E.B. Solomont’s article, ‘œThe Real Deal based its rankings on closed transactions in Manhattan for which the firm held the exclusive listing during the 12 months that ended on February 29. It does not include buy-side deals.’ The Top 25 firms closed more than $20.8 billion worth of transactions during the 12 month period.

The writer credits the increase in sales volume to the influx of new condo sales. The many deals that were written pre-construction and have been under contract for months and even years are finally closing. Solomont also notes that an increase in prices over that last few years means that fewer sales resulted in a higher sales volume. See full article for details

South Florida Douglas Elliman Real Estate agents Nicholas Malinosky and Randy Ely are not surprised by the good news. Mr. Malinosky and Mr. Ely know that their fellow Manhattan Corcoran colleagues are the top agents in the industry. It is no secret that Douglas Elliman Real Estate agents achieve record breaking sales year after year in the luxury real estate markets of South Florida and New York.

Goldman Sachs CEO Sells $13 Million Hamptons Home

May 20, 2016

According to the Wall Street Journal, Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein has finally sold his home in the Hamptons. After several previous attempts to sell with other real estate firms, Blankfein listed the property three months ago with Douglas Elliman Real Estate agent Susan Breitenbach.

The home located on Parsonage Lane in Sagaponack was first listed in 2007 for approximately $14M. The home was listed again in 2015 for $16.996M with subsequent price reductions to $15.9 and then $14.5. Susan Breitenbach of the Douglas Elliman Real Estate listed the property in February 2016 at $12.995M and now has the property under contract. See WSJ article by Candace Taylor

According to 27east.com, Lloyd Blankfein and his wife Laura built the 6,500 square foot house two decades ago. The seven bedroom residence sits on 2.7 acres and features a media room, gym, sunken tennis court and a 45-foot pool with pool house. See 27east.com article by Tom Clavin

According to Business Insider, the Blankfeins purchased another home in 2012 in Bridgehampton worth $32.5 million. Business Insider writer Dennis Green states that this is ‘œreportedly the reason’ Blankfein decided to sell the Sagaponack property. See Business Insider article

Actor Richard Gere just listed his North Haven mansion with Douglas Elliman Real Estate’s Susan Breitenbach. According to 27east.com, the celebrity’s home had not sold previously even after an $11 million price reduction. By listing with Corcoran, Gere is hoping to have the same result as Blankfein.

Nicholas Malinosky and Randy Ely congratulate their fellow Douglas Elliman Real Estate agent, Susan Breitenbach on a job well done. Mr. Malinosky and Mr. Ely are honored to be associated with the Douglas Elliman Real Estate and enjoy networking with some of the real estate industry’s top agents in both South Florida and New York.

Palm Beach Luxury Real Estate Winter Season in Review

May 6, 2016

According to a Palm Beach Daily News Article by Darrell Hofheinz, the Palm Beach Luxury Real Estate Winter Season ‘œwasn’t explosive but it was active as buyer and sellers met in the middle over prices.’ Hofheinz notes that the real estate market found ‘œmore solid ground’ over the last seven months. He further explains that ‘œregaining balance was a recurring theme in conversations’ amongst those who work in the business.

Palm Beach’s winter real estate season was busy but not ‘œfrantic’ and saw more sellers entering the market. According to article, listings have increased from 136 a year ago to 167 currently listed in the Palm Beach Board of Realtors Multiple Listing Service (MLS).

When asked about the winter season, Bill Yahn who serves as Douglas Elliman Real Estate’s Regional Senior Vice President South Florida said ‘œit’s merely a sign that the market has become more sustainable. This is common. We’ve seen it before. Prices move up, and it’s a buyer’s market ‘“ and then it levels off. And we find parity between buyers and sellers.’

Hofheinz reminds readers of several factors that marked the winter real estate season. The stock market, the presidential-election season, the earlier weak Canadian dollar, a mild winter in the North, and the early end of the season with Easter falling on March 27.

Either way, brokers are ‘œexpecting sales to continue apace through May and even into early season’. One Palm Beach Broker is quoted as saying, ‘œWe’re going to look back at 2016 and say it was a strong season. But it’s a late bloomer.’ See Full Article
