Delray Beach Is One of Best Small Towns to Visit in America

Delray Beach has yet once again received accolades! This time for being named one of the ‘œBest Small Towns to Visit in America’. The Palm Beach Post featured Delray Beach’s big news declaring that ‘œour county is among some very cool places in the country’. Thrillist, who created the list, describes Delray Beach as, ‘œNot just for grandparents anymore. In the past decade, Delray has begun to use the word ‘˜hip’ to precede something other than ‘˜replacement’. Thrillist created the list of cities that are ‘œunderappreciated gems’ with a maximum population of 70,000. They asked dozens of writers across the United States to find small cities where they could see themselves living. Publix Coming to Manalapan’s Del Mar Plaza and Whole Foods 365 Planned for Delray Beach

Big news for Manalapan and Delray Beach with the soon-to-be arrival of a Publix market and Whole Foods 365 market. According to the Real Deal, construction has begun on a Publix supermarket in Manalapan and a Whole Foods 365 grocery store is in the works for Delray Beach. Both markets will offer beach area residents a convenient option for grocery shopping.

The Real Deal online article from June 24, 2017 reports that the 28,000 square foot Publix is expected to open in approximately a year. The market’s arrival is part of the redevelopment of the Plaza del Mar shopping center in Manalapan. Other tenants include Chico’s, Evelyn & Arthur, John G’s and The Ice Cream Club. See Full Article

The Real Deal also announced in its July 9, 2017 post that Whole Foods is planning to open a Whole Foods Market 365 in Delray Beach at the Delray Plaza shopping center at 660 West Linton Boulevard. This convenient location is between South Federal Highway and Interstate 95. If all goes according to plan, the 30,000 square feet grocery store could open in early 2019. See Full Article

Delray Beach Wins Third All-American City Award

June 21, 2017

Delray Beach has been once again been awarded the title of All-American City. On June 16, 2017, the All-American City (AAC) Conference in Denver, Colorado announced Delray Beach as one of 15 communities to win the 2017 honor. See Announcement

Delray Beach is the only Florida city to win this title three times receiving the award in 1991, 2003 and 2017. The National Civic League has sponsored the All-American City Award for nearly seven decades.

According to a Sun Sentinel post on June 20, ‘œthis year’s award recognized communities for helping low-income children achieve early reading success. For the past five years, Delray Beach has coordinated with schools, students and parents to improve youth literacy, attendance rates and school preparedness’. Delray Beach’s Mayor, Cary Glickstein said, ‘œThe community’s work has contributed to a 25 percent improvement in grade level reading for kindergarten through third grade across Delray public schools.’ See Full Article
